Going to the airport in a group has never been a good experience. I tend to like the trips by myself more.
Thankfully I have so much experience from ships that the things that once would have annoyed me beyond belief are now only minor scratches in my surface.
3 Mini vans from a cab service picked us up at the college where we have been training for the last week. Our cab driver kept answering his phone for the first 10 minutes of the ride but he was only making me slightly nervous. Finally once he had tried to help his colleague navigate to the lock up point, that only moments ago we had left, he put his phone away.
We arrived at the airport and of course there was that one machine that malfunctioned at check in. The employee that helped us perceived attitude from one of us but in reality is was more of a missed perception of attitude.
Boarding passes in hand we went to the security lines. As they started to mount you could tell this was not the most efficient group of TSA workers, and they seemed to be particularly grumpy today. We got through the line and I immediately noticed there was no one at the end of the line pulling plastic bins off the carousel. People continue to baffle me that they don’t do this themselves but I certainly have had experiences where there is a TSA officer assigned to do this task.
We all make it through security with minimal scathing… although someone’s laptop was catapulted off the carousel due to the traffic on the belt. That wasn’t exactly fun.
All in all I got to the gate and found I needed alone time. Please just get away from me.
